The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) website
provides lists and descriptions of programs considered to be model programs (including SFP) and
contact information for those interested in implementing.
These are programs that have been scientifically tested in controlled, randomized clinical trials,
and have demonstrated effective results:

The website of the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) provides an abundance of information about prevention of drug abuse. The site also includes descriptions of risk and protective factors and of the theoretical basis of many prevention programs. NIDA is one of the National Institutes of Health and has provided much of the funding for research on SFP

The Centers for the Application of Prevention Technologies are regional centers founded by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP). The Center websites contain useful technical information for providers who want to select and implement programs for specific environments (e.g. school or home) and populations.
